English as a Second Language Ministry holds International VBS

English as a Second Language Ministry holds International VBS

This summer we had 18 lovely internationals attend the Briarwood English as a Second Language (ESOL) Vacation Bible School (VBS) program! Our topic was “A New Creation”.

This program coincided with the main Briarwood VBS program’s subject, “A New Creation”, in an effort to bring internationals living in the Birmingham area to a VBS designed for their English language level.

ESOL VBS also draws international children to attend the main VBS event.

By spending time with the parents, we create a way for parents and children to share with each other at the end of the day about what they have learned.

Briarwood’s ESOL VBS includes song time in the sanctuary with the children, Bible lessons in our own room, and an extended snack and craft time which when Briarwood volunteers can interact, ask questions, and explain the Bible lesson points in detail to our international guests.

We are very grateful for our 8 adult volunteers and our 4 High School volunteers for all their hard work and patient listening in and among our international friends.

We pray God will use this bridge to bring our international friends closer to the activities of the church family so they can be loved further and learn more about the love of God and the sacrifice of His Son.
